Webster’s dictionary defines abundance as “plentiful supply; overflowing fullness.” In other words, it’s a state where there’s no lack. And isn’t that what we all long for? We all want to be abundant. We want to be plentiful, no holds barred!

I’m a positive thinker. I really believe such a thing is possible. And I know for myself that I am a totally different person from when I was a young woman who worried about everything. Today my life is just so much more peaceful, relaxing, enjoyable because I made some decisions, decisions that I’ve been sharing with you over this last many weeks of writing about having an Abundance Mentality.

Abundance must be mental and emotional as well as physical to truly be “overflowing fullness.” Just having a lot of ‘things’ won’t make you abundant. A peaceful mind and meaningful relationships are all part of the abundance package. And stress is the #1 block to being totally plentiful. Since stress begins in the mind, that is where you must begin. Everything begins with a thought. Everything begins in your mind. You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

  • You were born abundant mentally, endowed with a mind that is capable of endless possibilities. I mean, the human imagination is amazing.
  • You were born abundant emotionally, to have feelings and thoughts that you share with the people around you as you develop meaningful relationships.
  • You were born abundant physically, with a body that has amazing capabilities as we see with the Olympic athletes. Not that you have to be an athlete, don’t get me wrong! Certainly not, but we can use our bodies to be helpful and to have enjoyment.

This Abundance Mentality series is coming to an end today. This is the last one of 18. If you missed any, they are all available at www.marciagrace.com/blog.

At the beginning of the series, I was talking about the scarcity mentality that we often develop. In our growing up years, things happen. People are mean to us. We make mistakes. These early misadventures tend to diminish our abundance mentality. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing; that’s experience, so it’s all about how you view it, right? You can take those experiences and let them work for you which is good, because everything that happens in our lives teaches us something.

Do those experiences teach you to be scared and nervous and hide in a corner or do they teach you to shine your light and be proud of yourself? “Hey, I got through this. Maybe it wasn’t easy but I did it and here I am and I’m going to keep going. It’s gonna be even better!” This this abundance mentality!

There are just two ways of looking at your experiences. It’s one or the other. No choice here. You’re either in a state of love or a state of fear. My spiritual path, A Course in Miracles, says, “Choose love.” It’s so much more fun.

So how do you opt for an expansive mindset as opposed to the scarcity mentality you may have fallen into? You want to monitor your thoughts, your feelings and your actions to find the stress points that are holding you back from a life of happiness that should be yours. Acknowledging your stress and working with it will get you to your goal!

So, in a nutshell, I suggest:

  1. This entire Abundance Mentality series.
  2. Apps. There are many that will help you find your calm.
  3. Inspirational reading.

You deserve to have happiness. Why not take a shortcut? You don’t need to struggle through things on your own. Take some advice from someone who’s been around the block a few times. I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I’ve met up with all kinds of roadblocks along the way and have put into practice the many ideas I’ve shared in my blogs. And so I speak from experience.

You want to eliminate your scarcity mentality:

  • Because you don’t want to miss out on all the exciting possibilities in your life.
  • That is preventing you from interacting with others and helping other people because you know how great it feels when you help somebody. You feel terrific, right? But scarcity will stop you from reaching out to others. It’s a fear factor, and when you’re fearful you tend to withdraw. That’s not what you want. You want to expand, yes? You want to blossom. You want to ‘go with the flow’ and enjoy everything and everyone around you. By helping other people one thing leads to another. It’s a beautiful circle. And the more you reach out and enjoy other people’s company the more you attract the “overflowing fullness” that is always available.
  • Because by working on your scarcity mentality and shifting it to abundance mentality, you will find happiness in your life and in your work. Whatever it is you do will be intensified. It will happen because you’ve made a decision to do so.

Now, that doesn’t mean that everything is going to run smoothly forever once you’re on this abundant mentality path; that each day is going to be super terrific, gorgeous, with the sun always shining. No, of course not. We need a little rain, like last night here, it came down in buckets and that’s great, because I don’t have to go out and water my lawn today!

Life is always changing, but because you have an Abundance Mentality to start off with, any block that you come up against will just serve to strengthen you. You know what they say, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” A hackneyed expression, but in a sense it’s very true. Those blocks allow you to grow and learn from the experience.

You’re going to make mistakes. A couple of weeks ago i talked about ’turning it around,’ So if you say all mistakes are bad, no they’re not bad. They are important and necessary. Otherwise you don’t grow. You don’t learn new things, you don’t stretch yourself. You have to try and then try again. Edison tried thousands of times before he perfected the light bulb. He didn’t give up so today we have light!

Keep realizing that things may not be smooth every minute of the day. With your Abundance Mentality you will overcome. Up and over. You’ll go around, you’ll go under. You’ll find a way because you will be learning how to listen to your inner guidance.

Remember, this is something I say a lot “What you believe is what you will perceive.” (another line from A Course in Miracles.) What you believe is what you will perceive because everything starts in your own mind. If, in your mind, the glass is half empty, you’re going to see problems all the time. You’ll see lack and limitation.

If the glass is half full, opportunities will come to you. You’ll see the world so differently, with so much more joy and calm. Isn’t that what you want?! That is what I want for you. To be able to negotiate through your experiences, whatever they may be, knowing that you’re not alone, that you have an inner guide within you who will help you handle any stress that comes your way. I speak from experience. You will have what you need, not because you had to ask a million people or do any crazy things. You simply have all the answers within yourself. And that’s a beautiful thing to know.

Peace and Love Always,
MarciaGrace
